Libertarian trailblazer John McAfee, who was found dead in a Spanish prison cell, said he wouldn’t kill himself in a popular 2019 tweet in which he also showed off his “whacked” tattoo.
“I got a tattoo today just in case. If I suicide myself, I didn’t,” the larger-than-life character said, showing off his “whacked” tattoo.
Getting subtle messages from U.S. officials saying, in effect: “We’re coming for you McAfee! We’re going to kill yourself”. I got a tattoo today just in case. If I suicide myself, I didn’t. I was whackd. Check my right arm.$WHACKD available only on https://t.co/HdSEYi9krq🙂 pic.twitter.com/rJ0Vi2Hpjj

Spanish prison officials said they found McAfee dead in his cell on Wednesday after a court cleared his extradition to the United States to face tax evasion charges.
“Everything points to suicide,” reported El Pais.
McAfee, a cryptocurrency promoter who founded the antivirus software that bares his name, was famous for his brushes with the law and for living life “on the lamb,” tweeting often from a yacht anchored in international waters.
McAfee was facing a 10-count indictment in the Western District of Tennessee for allegedly evading taxes on millions of dollars in income.
The tech magnate was facing up to 30 years in prison on the charges, which would have effectively been a life sentence for the 75-year-old.
In 2016, McAfee ran as a presidential candidate for the Libertarian Party, but lost out to “What is Aleppo?” Gary Johnson.
In one his last tweets, McAfee said the feds seized all his remaining assets but he “regretted nothing.”
“All power corrupts,” he said in his last tweet. “Take care which powers you allow a democracy to wield.”
